Joining the choir

Becoming part of Concordia means you’ll receive:
– A warm welcome from your new friends
– Professionally led music tuition
– Opportunities to perform a wide variety of choral music in stunning venues, occasionally with professional soloists and instrumentalists
– A night out that helps reduce stress, lifts your mood and self confidence; enhances your memory, concentration and alertness; improves your breathing and circulation, boosts your immune system and reduces muscle tension… but also that’s great fun!

We rehearse on Monday evenings between 7:30 and 9:30pm at the Methodist Church Hall, which is behind the church on Burton Road in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, postcode LE65 2LF.

Potential new members are made very welcome. Enquiries are welcome from any voice.

Are there any requirements?

Other than being able to sing in tune, there is no minimum standard required to join the choir!
You don’t need to be an expert, but previous choral experience and/or an ability to read music would be an advantage.
If you’re totally new to choral music, you’ll be made equally as welcome – but we would expect you to work toward a basic understanding of music notation and theory outside of rehearsals.

Members must be able to commit to the weekly Monday rehearsals and concert schedule (usually no more than 4 a year).

What’s the process?

If you’d like to join, we’ll invite you to join us for two or three rehearsals, so you can meet other members and see how we do things.
If you enjoy it and want to formally join the choir, the final step is a short vocal check with our MD (nothing to worry about!) which ensures you’re in the right vocal part – and that’s it, you’re a member!
